TRAINING

ECVC"s training programme, which has largely been delivered to our local community, has now been extended - via support from the Coalfields Regeneration Trust - to the districts of Bolsover, North East Derbyshire and Mansfield. We are also able to provide free transport - door to door if appropriate - from these areas to our training centres in Creswell- funds for this have come from the Access Alliance programme. Priority is given in all these areas to the most deprived localities. Training is a major way out of deprivation,  increasing employability, enhancing the prospects of those in employment and stimulating business development.

In 2010 we have changed the structure of the training programme to make it more accessible. We believe that the conventional pattern of training, consisting of a set programme of lectures at weekly intervals and requiring a minimum number of attendees in not appropriate when there is urgent need for training to gain employment.. We are therefore developing continuously running courses, to which individuals can attend when they have the need and opportunity. For 2010 we will offer the following topics.

Capacity Building for obtaining employment (customer services and teamwork, CV preparation, job search, job application forms, mock interview) and

IT based topics known to be valued by employers (computer use, Internet and Email skills,Excel, Desktop publishing).

There will be a focus on multimedia training in techniques essential in business - digital image processing, web page development, production of promotional material including leaflets and pamphlets, CDs and DVDs, use of Apple mac computers, sound recording, digital photography and filming.

Where appropriate, training will be accredited with the Open College Network, levels 1-3

We have developed a speciality in Multimedia Training, for this technology is central to the development of British industry. With grant assistance from Neighbourhood Renewal Fund and Coalfields Regeneration Trust, two studios have been created at Limestone House and the Resource Point. These are equipped with both PC and Apple Mac computers and with quality editing, filming and photographic facilities.
