ECVC Multimedia Studios.
We have Studio 1 at Limestone House, equipped with both Apple Macs and PCs and a second larger one – Studio 2 – at Creswell Resource Point. Studio 1 is primarily used for early training in imaging and other aspects of multimedia training and for familiarising beginners in using computers. Studio 2 has been created in the last twelve months and is being fitted out for sophisticated multimedia work, including filming, photography and, eventually, audio work. Recent funding for the Studios has come from Coalfields Regeneration Trust and Derbyshire Learning and Development Consortium.
The Coalfields Regeneration grant is to pay for the costs of structural works for partitioning the first floor space at the Multi Media Studio at the Creswell Resource Point to create a control room and to purchase key items of state of the art equipment.
Derbyshire Learning & Development Consortium award is from "Neighbourhood Learning in Deprived Communities (NLDC) programme “Capital Funding" for Delivering Community Learning”. It will be used to further enhance the IT/ Multi Media equipment to provide learning for people aged 19+ who are unemployed, leaving incapacity benefit or who are employed but need training for career development.

After School Activities
We are about to start After School Activities in "ICT and Multimedia for fun". The tutor-led sessions will be on Thursdays and Fridays from 4pm to 6pm and will run from 29th January until the 27th March 2009. The project is for young people from age 11 to 19 and was instigated by four young people who had previously attended similar After School Activities last year. The cost of a session is 50p. A Parental consent form is required if the young person is under 16 years of age and can be obtained at Limestone House. It is best to book a place on the Course, which can be done by telephoning or visiting Limestone House.
A very welcome grant from the Derbyshire County Council Youth Council is making this activity possible.
This new project is running alongside another for After School Activities, funded by the Derbyshire Community Foundation. This is aimed at children at schools in the Bolsover district who wish to extend their pupils" knowledge of Multimedia technology beyond the level possible within school. We have started to recruit 100 children from schools that have previously send pupils to us to receive training in Multimedia techniques. We are able to provide free transport from the schools concerned to the Creswell Studio as a rsult of a grant from Alliance SSP.
Transport Grant.
As noted above, ECVC has a Transport grant from Alliance SSP which allows us to transport children and adults fromtheir home location to Limestone House and return them after training. We are deeply appreciative of this help, mediated by the Star Transport consultancy, for it enable us to utilise the facilities made available for education and training much more fully than would otherwise be possible. It enables ECVC to provide a service over a much wider geographical range than would be possible using normal public transport.
